- 500 yards continuous swim of (100 yards each) front crawl, breaststroke, side stroke (right and left side), and inverted breaststroke kick. - Tread water, legs only for 2 minutes. - Surface dive head first into 8-10' deep water. Swim underwater a distance greater than 15'. CPR, First Aid, Rescue Packs and textbooks are included. There is a non-refundable $85 materials fee for participants who pass the swim test.

Gives you the flexibility to attend Aquacise, Aqua Box and Aqua Jog classes any number of times within the 8 week session. It's a great way to cross train by enjoying the water.
All levels include personal safety and personal growth issues for discussion, rescue skills, sports and games alonf with stroke developement to provide a holistic, lifelong enjoyment of the water. YOUTH SWIM LESSONS Ages 6 - 12 yeas old Polliwog Students must be at least 6 years old. This is an entry level class; no skills are required. Guppy Students must swim on his/her front, back and side continuously for 25 yards (one pool length) without flotation devices. Minnow Students must swim the following strokes for 25 yards: Front crawl using rhythmic breathing, Back Crawl using good form and Side Paddle. Fish Students must swim the Front crawl using rotary breathing for 50 yards. Back Crawl using good form for 50 yards, Elementary Back Stroke for 25 yrads and Dolphin Dives for 15 Yards. Students must also tread water for 1 Minute. Flying Fish Student must swim Front and Back Crawl for 100 yards, Side Stroke with scissors kick for 50 yards, and Breast Stroke for 25 yards. Students must also tread water for 5 minutes. Shark Student must swim continuoulsy for 200 yards using proper forms of Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Side Stroke and Elementary Back Stroke. Family & Friends CPR The American Heart Association (AHA) Family & Friends CPR program teaches how to perform CPR and handle choking in adults, chidren, and infants. The course is approximately 2 1/2 hours long. This class is appropriate for individuals that want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card. Class size is limited to 10 students. November 18, 2010 February 17, 2011 6:30-8:30pm Members: $25 Others: $35 Healthcare Provider CPR This more advanced AHA course covers core material such as adult, pediatric and infant CPR, foreign-body airway obstruction and AED. The course is approximately 4 hours long. This course is appropriate for most individuals looking to fulfill a CPR requirement, or for anyone who must obtain a CPR certification card. Oxygen Administration/First Aid The American Safety and Health Institute First Aid Course covers how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. An afterschool program for Red Bird, North Madison and Homer Nash Schools. Children will be transported to the Y by a Madison school bus. Parents must pick up their children at the Y. This program meets five days a week from 2:00-6:00 pm except on no-school days. When school does not meet, children may sign up for a Y funday. The East End Branch offers care for ages three thru second grade. Programs are licensed by the Ohio Department of Human Services. Our full-facility Y provides an outside playground, gymnasium with age-appropriate play equipment, swimming pool and fully-equipped child care area that fosters fun and learning in a safe and caring environment.
Full-day child care for children ages 3-5 years, from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. A 30-minute instructional swim lesson is offered weekly. Child must be toilet trained.

This is a unique physical activity program designed to encourage Medicare-eligible members to increase their physical activity. Based upon "fitness, fun and friends", the fitness center-based program incorporates fun, social programming with an exercise program that enhances independent living skills. The target market of SilverSneakers® is Medicare-eligible populations, primarily age 65 and older, with activity levels ranging from active to semi-sedentary. Cardio Circuit Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. Muscular Strength Range of Movement Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. A spirited workout for boomers and those who are ready for something fun and exciting. This class takes place in the Wellness Center and is a 40-minute interval workout for the beginner to intermediate exerciser. The interval training combines the benefit of both strength and aerobic exercise with a set time at each station. Smart Circuit is guaranteed to improve your mobility, strength and stamina. Get a great cardiovascular workout that takes you from one machine to the next, each interval having a different target heart rate. It's fun and will put variety in your workout routine. Grades 7-9. This instructional league focases on teamwork, fundamentals and sportsmanship. Volunteer coaches needed. The League will run February through March.
